One of my favourite garments to sew for Sasha doll is a smocked dress.
There are so many different styles of smocked dresses to choose from.
Below are pictures of a few of my favourites.
This dress has no yoke and the smocking becomes the yoke. Although without the yoke you have to decide if you will be cutting into your smocking or not.
It is easier to make a smocked dress with a yoke and then smock the dress front panel.
Sleeveless smocked dresses are particularly pretty with a coordinating bolero cardigan which can be long or short-sleeved.
There are so many beautiful smocking stitches to choose from. Every dress can be unique.
The addition of sleeves changes the dress immediately depending on the style of the sleeve. The lilac dress above has hand-dyed embroidery thread used for the smocking which is effective on the lovely lilac cotton.
Smocking is also very pretty on the edge of a puffed sleeve. It gives a very feminine touch to the dress.
