Baby and toddler knitwear is the perfect foil for cable patterns. It adds interest to the garment.

Cable and Aran sweaters can look very different depending on the style of cable and the background stitch. The green sweater dress has one bold cable centre front set against a stockinette background. The blue sweater is more like a traditional aran sweater with two cables and background of double moss stitch.

I’ve always enjoyed knitting cable patterns for Sasha (Gregor, Baby and Toddler) dolls. Cable patterns are versatile and can look more like traditional Aran sweaters or add interest to a hat and scarf.
